1. Sports Betting is Already Dominant Europe has a deeply mature, highly competitive sports betting market. Affiliates already have well-established verticals around football, tennis, racing and more. Prediction markets would largely be competing with existing products rather than complementing a gap.
2. Regulatory Landscape is Much Tighter The EU doesn’t have a unified gambling framework — each country regulates independently. Prediction markets that touch on political or financial outcomes often fall under financial services regulation (MiFID II) rather than gambling law, making the compliance picture genuinely complex and jurisdiction-by-jurisdiction.
